P1010498-b.jpg (113941 bytes)Review: Summer Food Tools

            Flimsy.

That was my first thought when I touched the handle of Cutco Cutlery's new cheese knife.  It was so light weight I was convinced it had to be a lightweight.

I couldn’t have been more wrong.  The knife zips through cheese like the proverbial hot knife through butter.  It is literally the best tool I have ever used to slice cheese.  This extremely sharp knife cuts smooth straight lines, or even wedges, whatever the user wants—no wavy, uneven cuts like happens with so many knives where the blade bows during the cut.  It works more smoothly and cuts more evenly than standardP1010492-b.jpg (105657 bytes) cheese-cutters.

It worked so well on the cheese I decided to give it a try on some other items.  The extra sharp blade allows me to cut nearly paper-thin slices of tomato, less than 25% the thickness required with my standard cutlery.  It works great on a loaf of bread as well.

This new kitchen tool is highly recommended and a welcome addition to any kitchen.

P1010487-b.jpg (115115 bytes)          Cutco's ice cream scoop is another welcome addition to the kitchen.  This utensil, with its thick solid handle gets the job done easily and efficiently.  The thick handle ensures a solid grip, the pointed tip allows one to effectively scoop ice cream from the corners of any container, the thin edges allow for scooping with ease as it slices through the most solidly frozen ice cream.

I find the shape of the ice cream scoop along with its solid build to be superior to any scoop previously used.  Needless to say, it sure beats bent spoons, which is often the result when a spoon is used on frozen desserts.  Cutco's ice cream scoop is highly recommended.
